There is a weird phenomenon whereby when we look at something long enough, it starts to take on forms in the imagination that divert from the physical reality. This can be especially true in nature, which tends to reflect our deepest fears and aspirations. The mind has an amazing capability to create symbolism of things that are not really there but still send a subliminal message from the subconscious.
