There is a lot of guilt involved with reflecting on whether we might be on Santa’s good or bad list, and so some will go to extra lengths to pretend to be their virtuous nature. At a certain age the realization comes that it was all for nothing since these so-called lists are nonexistent. It turns out that, despite others’ wishes, being nice has no real reward, so it makes more sense to just be oneself even if it is naughty.
