Freedom of expression

While it may appear to be a fundamental freedom, history reveals that significant struggles have occurred to establish this fundamental right. It was these very ground-roots fights that laid the basis for the social justice that formed functional and democratic societies. An authoritative regime with a lot to hide can suddenly put freedom of expression into question, making it easy to take for granted.
