In many situations, we have the urge to express our personal opinion in order to be heard and recognized. Freedom of expression is important so that we can relay our standpoint based on our own set of values and belief systems. Speaking up is a valid response in order to set limits and situate ourselves in times of conflict; however, there are other times where remaining silent sends a more powerful message.
